Birkenhead

"Everything close by - near to the lovely beach coast"

There's good and bad about Birkenhead.

It may not have lush green grass and large palms, but it's quiet and cosy.

The Bad (let's get it out of the way):
A general majority of the houses are not modern
No lush grass median strips
Pathways are not all in great condition
More parks and lush green areas would be an improvement

The Good (there's lots):
Near to a Primary School
Close to the lovely Semaphore (Beach!!),
and historical Port Adelaide
Most streets have plenty of trees
There is one small park nearby I know of
Near Port Adelaide (which has a -walk in- medical centre, and small shopping centre)
It's only a short drive to the beach, and if you don't like the crowds, you can drive along the entire beach coast, and it's beautiful. Often you can find a lovely place where there are no people.

Anything you need is only a short drive.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to retirees, quiet, but not cool and aesthetically pleasing enough.

I would recommend it to singles or couples, those who love the beach and cafés, or family's with kids, or who are looking to have kid's.

I would recommend this to students if you don't live on campus, especially if you live on or near Fletcher Road, as there is a train station.

I love Birkenhead, and as I am planning to move (about an hour away!), I will dearly miss it. I love to go over the Port River Express and Birkenhead Bridge, I love to look at the water and the beach, and drive along the beautiful beach-y coast only a minute away.

Great for

  • Access to Train Transport
  • Small Deli's & primary school close by
  • Near Port Adelaide & Semaphore

Not great for

  • Not enough parks
  • Semaphore Road (main street) is a pain with Roadworks

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Tourists
  • Students
