Coleraine

"Great little township near the Grampians"

Wonderful little township about 50 minutes from the Grampians. Very peaceful, leafy and quiet with all the amenities you need right in town and Hamilton only 25 minutes drive away for the bigger shops, cinema and extras. Houses are extremely affordable which takes the pressure off paying a mortgage but in saying that work is not so easy to come by unless you are a farmer, nurse, teacher or the like. Mount Gambier is an hour away and Melbourne 4 hours away but there are coaches that depart for Warnambool, Casterton, Mount Gambier and Ballart once or twice a day from the center of town. Everyone is friendly and helpful and in the 4 years we have lived here we have felt it to be a great environment to raise a young family. The main street doesn't look like much as you drive by but there is a lot going on behind the scenes. St Josephs school is fantastic and rivals any other school as far as we are concerned! The small class size and wonderful teachers make it a real winner! Only downside is finding places to take the kids out in Winter and the rainy season. Would be truly handy if the council put in more undercover playgrounds in Coleraine and in Hamilton (we have spent a lot of time at the library and in Mcdonalds!). Climate is great and the community pool is a great place to cool down in summer! Overall I recommend living here for anyone who enjoys a slow paced country lifestyle and does not need too much excitement!
