Education here is horrific. The schools are terrible, teachers are very poor standard. You mostly get new grads or teachers that would not get promotions in a city.

Services are horrific. When in pain get on the plane! We’ve had and heard so many horror stories of health services up here. We have to fly to perth to even see a decent dentist or gp.

Most of the higher qualified people quickly leave here when kids hit school age.

Summer is gross and can only stay inside. Winter is nice but nothing really to do if not a boat day.

It is definitely not forward thinking- full of bogans who kill fish, drink and repeat. Mostly unskilled, uneducated workers etc so society reflects that.

Most people who value education, arts, services etc stay a few years and then leave quickly once they’ve had a few years regionally and taken advantage of the free housing etc through their job.

Mostly only people who are tied by the golden handcuffs and cant get salaries similar in a city and don’t value good schools and services really would ever stay longterm. They fiercly defend karratha because they are stuck here.
