We have lived in Gardners Bay for 7 years now and absolutely love it. There are heaps of families with children. It has a small farm, market garden feel and council is trying to keep the area from subdividing. The road is paved from Woodbridge to Cygnet, but is small enough for people to walk and ride bikes along it. There are no shops, but Cygnet is only a 5 minute drive and Hobart is only 40 minutes.
