Coonabarabran

"Where the mountains meet the stars"

Coonabarabran is an excellent town. My family moved back to Coonabarabran in 1967, over 40 years ago, when I was about 9 years old and we currently have four generations living here.
For a start, we have very good schools and that's from the perspective of being an ex-student, a parent of students and an employee, having worked in the office and library of the local High School and in the Special Education Department as well.
I've never been disappointed in the medical care given to my family and appreciate being able to see a doctor on request. I can also attend the casualty section of the hospital and be seen promptly.
I would argue that we also have the best aged care facility, 'Cooinda', with caring staff and the best maintained grounds anywhere.
Shops are stocked with all the necessities and it's wonderful to be home with the groceries within 2 minutes.
I walk to work and can easily go home for lunch or to take the washing off the line.
We have a scientific community involved with the wonders of astronomy using the largest telescope in the Southern Hemisphere.
Sports available include tennis, golf, bowls, rugby league, rugby union, netball, touch footy, boxing, swimming, horse riding, cycling, athletics, bushwalking and abseiling in the Warrumbungle Mountains or maybe a solid game of darts.
For supervised training, there are a number of exercise classes catering for differing levels of fitness including classes for new mums and water aerobics as well.
I'm not going to say anymore because you'll all be envious and packing your bags to move.
