A friend of mine I worked with lived in Bronte for years...and she was trying to 'coax' me across from the Lower North Shore. She kept saying 'once you'll live here, you'll never want to leave...'.
When I finally made the move across, we bought a 'Chateau Shoebox' in Hewlett Street. It was perfect...just opposite the beach, a quick hop to Bondi Junction and to the city...the best of both worlds. The locals are all proud Brontesauruses! Whether it's 'Heath Ledger lived there...' or 'Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch just bought here...' everyone is kinda chuffed if a 'celeb' moves in to the neighbourhood. Mind you, the neighbours are a mix of people - from the 'regulars' you'll see at the Bogey Hole for their early morning swims, or visitors coming in for the day with their baskets full of food for a day at the beach and barbecue...or Mums at the playground chasing their toddlers around the park or the famous Bronte tram, which has been operated by the same family-run business for many, many years...I miss you Bronte, you're a good friend!
