Gardiner Road

"Think twice before moving in."

There is no other reason to pay the ridiculous amounts charged in this area. The rent it disproportional to the quality of the housing, which dates, at best, from the 80s, and is usually run down as most landlords know they would find a desperate student to pay whatever they charge.

I lived on Gardiner Road for 4 years. It has no charm as it borders an industrial zone, the telephone infrastructure is very bad - can't transfer internet at a rate or more that 1.5mbps, and needless to say there is no cable infrastructure. My place didn't even have a TV antenna socket. Weekend nights hoons run up and down Ferntree Gully Road making noise. Thursday nights after all the students leave the local pub at the end of the street ('The Nott') they would often make noise or slam down a rubbish bin or two. Access to public transport is the very unreliable line 742, which is Zone 2, and on weekends it doesn't even enter the street.

The only, and only reason to live on this road is if you study or work nearby. Another good thing (but not a good enough reason to live here) is that it's between the Monash Freeway and Princess Highway, so there is good access to leave quickly to the city or other SE suburbs. If you live on this street make sure you own a car.
