Auchenflower

"Close to CBD and very convenient."

I've lived in Auchenflower for the past 8 years after relocating from Sydney. I like the area for its close proximity to the CBD and its convenient access to all points north and south. It has a good bus service and a train station (just 3 stops to Central!) If you love cafes and cinema, then it is very handy for those aspects of life, too. Paddo, Rosalie, Barrack and Park Street are all nearby. It's also close to Mt Coo-tha park so if you ever need peace and tranquillity to ponder the meaning of life, then a 2 minute drive will get you there (or you can walk). The Wesley hospital also provides a reassuring presence. One downside is the preponderance of massive four-wheel drives, typically driven by well-heeled housewives (with their poodles). They hog parking spots, bully you on the road and are a general nuisance. Some parts of the suburb aren't particularly quiet as there are a lot of rentals peopled by students and other assorted young folks, who love nothing more than to party on weekends and on weeknights after exams. Milton and Toowong have great offleash dog parks.
