Albert St

"Quiet street but within easy reach of everything"

Albert Street in Forest Lodge (Sydney) sits atop one of the two steep hills that separates Glebe from Annandale. Welcome to the Inner West! Albert Street is just off Wigram Road - perched above the Harald Park Paceway (horse trotting on Tuesday and Friday evenings). A three minute walk to the bus stop that the 433 (Balmain - The Rocks) and 370 - (Leichardt-Coggee) use. The 470 which connects Lilyfield with Circular Quay is a five minute walk! The Light Rail is a good 10 minute walk - goes to Pyrmont, Darling Harbour and Central Station. Pretty central thus - in addition it is quite easy to put on the walking shoes and head for Jubilee Park and end up at the Fish Markets. Glebe Point Road must have the most restaurants representing all corners of the globe. Leichardt has the Italian cuisine. There is also a primary school located nearby which has an excellent reputation - called the Forest Lodge Primary School.

I live in what is called a Federation style house (although built in 1895) - it has a small front garden with railings and a gate, a verandah and a house that is long and narrow and at the back a courtyard, one storey high. The story goes that the father of the family living in the big house at the corner of Albert and Arthur Street had four daughters and built four identical houses alongside his house. the house has a lot of character and a leaking roof which was recently repaired!!

In general it is extremely quiet here - except for the `twilight' chorus from the birds - how raucous do they get - I have never heard anything like it...

It is a delightful place to live - quiet and peaceful yet close by to a lot of amenities!
