Oatley

"A country town at heart"

I grew up in Oatley - Boorarra Ave to be exact. I have so many fond memories of attending Oatley Public School, getting picked up by the school bus outside my house. The school was lovely and the people in my year were friendly and kind. I remember attending Kinder garden in Russell Street. I remember as a child always feeling safe and secure while residing in Oatley. The gardens and clock tower were lovely to play around. I remember buying burgers from the milk bar and eating them with my family in the park across the road on summer evenings. My parents had a double block of land with a nice cottage on it. I have many memories of helping my mum in the vegi patch, swimming in our pool and socialising with our neighbours. We had dogs and ducks... I highly recommend the east side of Oatley on one of the many peninsulas, where it is quiet, away from the shops. The Oatley hotel and RSL are good places to hang out when you get older. You can have a few drinks and then walk home with your friends and not have to worry about gangland crime. Oatley will always have a dear place in my heart because of my fond childhood memories.

Wyoming

"The Valley view side of Wyoming is a lovely place to reside - 5/5"

I bought my house almost 9 years ago on the Valley View side of Wyoming. I love it here. I am a single women living on my own and I have not had any problems with crime. I sleep in summer with my bedroom window open for a breeze and have never had an issue. No break ins in my street ever!! You never see the police on this side of Wyoming, no call outs to the good side of Wyoming. The rainforests and Wyoming river which flow down off the mountain is lovely. Lots of mini waterfalls. Lots of bell birds, Kookaburras, ducks, lizards... The area is nice, quiet and friendly with some outstanding rainforest bush walks i.e. Jane Young Walking track. We are close to the M1 Gosford and Ourimbah exits. 30 mins drive to Hornsby and 55 Mins drive to Chatswood. You can walk, jog or cycle to Gosford shops and waters edge. If you are looking in the area and are from Sydney like I was 9 years ago and don't want to buy on the wrong side, just stick to street names that resemble a person's first or last name. Stay away from street names that resemble a native bush / shrubs, food, citrus or other fruit. These streets are no go zones. If you like to Jog/walk or take your dog for walks and want to be safe doing so then stay on the valley view side of Wyoming. You will pay more for your house but it is worth it. You will notice the valley view area has 99% brick houses as apposed to fibro and cladded houses elsewhere.
