Gladstone Avenue

"Community spirit that others long for"

I have lived in Gladstone Ave for 26 very happy years. Bought back in 1986 because it was what we could afford, we had no intention of staying long - but then we found we'd discovered a gem! Very soon many of our neighbours started having families - all around the same time. Our kids grew up together, playing on the street while we adults supervised and got to know one another all the more. Soon after the annual Christmas street party started (in it's 15th year). This is genuinely one street in a million. It's important to note that Gladstone Ave runs over 3 sections starting down by Merri Creek then divided by St. Georges Rd and the railway line. I think a previous review "Comfortable' might be referring to the section between High St & the Railway line. I refer to the section between the railway line and St. Georges Rd - Transport at both ends, schools in walking distance, no limited parking, convenience shops at one end and fully blown shopping centre minutes away on foot. We even had the inaugral 'Neighbour of the year' right next door - we miss him dearly! Now, with mature trees lining the street and fabulous cafes and restaurants at either end of Gladstone Ave - I wish i didn't have to leave - I can't imagine loving another street more.
