Zetland

"Great Modern Living Vibe for CBD Employee"

I had been living in Zetland for 1.5year when my job is in CBD. I missed the good time living there:

1. Green Environment - the modern apartments are well blended with the delicately planned landscape greenery, several small parks just within a few steps away, streets are clean, wide and comfortable. Comparing to the cluster of apartment in Wolli Creek, Rhodes, I would say Zetland is definitively at another level. Oh, if you don't know, Moore Park and Centennial Park are in vicinity.

2. Transport - Bus stop is just down stairs of my apartment on Joynton Avenue (M20 and 343, peak hour 15-20min to CBD office door to door). Stroll to train station Greensquare T8. Cycle lane is my favorite! I ride almost everyday, so much fun and safe because dedicated cycle lane was planned 70% of the route.

3. Young community - and wealthy. Look at the garage - Maserati, Mustang, M3... All are the young (and wealthy) people favorite. Quite a number of students, close to UNSW or Sydney U.

4. Local shopping and dinning options are a bit limited - although East Village and Moore Park Supa Centre meet 80% of needs. As I was working in CBD, the remaining 20% can be easily handled in city or Waterloo or Surry Hills. And it's so much fun to ride my bicycle to explore around.

Unexpectedly, my job was relocated to North Shore, so I moved again. Some has hesitation on apartment living, but from my own experience, I wish I could continue living there in Zetland.

Rhodes

"Live once, never again"

I have been living in Rhodes apartment nearly one year, it's why I rates it two-star only:

1. Noisy car - You can't have any nights without the mod cars and bikes bombard the streets. Some cars just go round and round telling all the residents in Rhodes that he is driving his xxxxing car.

2. Transport - people say here transport is the selling point, but it is not. Close to train station doesn't mean convenience: the train frequency is 15min even in peak hour!

3. Over price property and rents

Before I live in Rhodes I saw a local property investment guru commenting Rhodes as "Peninsula of oversea student". I found it totally precise. If you dig the survey data you will be surprised that in Rhodes the average rent is high but the income is low. That's because there are lots of oversea students here are sponsored by their loaded parents. (Apparently some of them doesn't care their study and put their parents money in the load noisy cars)

If you are looking for a place to establish, Rhodes will not be your choice. If you are looking for a place convenient to transport and to city, think about Strathfield, Burwood, Zetland etc. Yes, that's where I am moving to soon, and I am feeling so happy to leave Rhodes.
