Derrimut

"Great suburb for families"

I've lived in lots of suburbs over the years, in both the East and West of Melbourne; and Derrimut is a great suburb to live in. It's very convenient to the city and shopping, and there are plenty of transport options nearby - and this will be enhanced once the Deer Park VLine station becomes a metro station... as it is, the trains are frequent and fast. There are also Metro stations within a few minutes' drive (Ginifer, Sunshine) and buses that run through Brimbank Gardens. I like that the Western Freeway extension is only a few minutes drive from home and takes me all the way into the city where I work - the commute is pretty convenient.

There are plenty of conveniences nearby - Child Care and both Coles and IGA are very close by. Sunshine golf course has great meals and is very reasonably priced, with a beautiful view. For me, one of the very pleasant surprises living here are how friendly the neighbours are and the fact that there's a sense of community. Swimming Pool (at YMCA), multiple gyms, and good primary schools (Derrimut and St Lawrence) are walking distance from my house.
