"Great town perfect to be close but not right in the hussle hussle"
I never write on these things, but after reading a couple of the reviews about Calliope, I am sure one in particular has not lived here and is in the 18 - 22 age bracket.
I am a mother of 2 small children, who has lived in the township of Calliope for the past 15 years and on the outskirts for the last 23 years. Calliope has grown out of sight over the past 5 - 7 years, with a new a shopping centre now fully tenanted. The walking tracks, has exercise stations around them and there are multiple places to sit by the man made lakes for a picnic. Calliope River is 5 minutes drive away and I have never seen a CROC!!! and we camp there often. Awoonga dam and Tannum Beach are 15 minutes away. The schooling is good and Gladstone is at your fingertips being only 12minutes to Clinton and 15 - 20 minutes (max to the middle of town, not 30 minutes as stated on here).
The night life well the clubs and pubs are good for a drink with friends, live music is on regularly and the locals are friendly and helpful, but if you are after a headbanging, go to town or the gold coast, sunshine coast.
We love living in Calliope for its location and people. Great places to bring up kids and family life
Who lives here?
- Families with kids
