Dayboro

"Dayboro - relaxing, close enough to commute."

Wow. What a great place to live. Get away from it all in Dayboro, great for countryside, rolling hills and local picnic spots like Mt Mee. Takes about 10-15mins to drive to Petrie (nearest train station) on a extremely well kept 100km/h road, then train 35min to CBD.

Dayboro has a few shops - local chippie, chemist, bakers, IGA store, coffee shops and restaurant, local pub, bottleshop everything you need really but don't expect too much, no Woolworths/Coles .. too small for that (Petrie has the closest store)
It has a few local sports/clubs - swimming pool, footy club, bowls, scouts for the kids! and some really good tennis courts.

We've lived here for only 6 months and made plenty of new friends - it's small enough that people regularly say hi in the street even if they don't know you - not something that happens in other places.

No high school but does have primary school (reasonably good results) - the eldest goes and loves it, the youngest goes the local daycare. Dayboro has a couple daycare centres and a family daycare and local kindy. Spoilt for choice for people to take your kids!

We came the UK and have found the transition easy and enjoyable (we also did a stint in North Lakes - another nice place but no countryside) - for the sale of the typical price of 3bed semi you can buy 1,5acres and a large home - even at the 2012 Aussie dollar strength against weedy sterling. Much greater value than the next township, Samford yet just as quick to get into the city.

If you want nightclubs Dayboro's not it. If you want acreage, stunning views and peace and quiet whilst still being able to get into the CBD - Dayboro ticks all the boxes.
