It is the retail/commercial center for the mid northshore area. I lived there for 9 months in a unit behind the Westfield carpark. If you live near the retail area it can be quite noisy. They were building the Chatswood rail upgrade when I was there, very noisy. If there is no major building going on you still have the traffic and early morning council cleaning/rubbish truck noise. On the plus side is the walking distance convienence of public transport, a lot of banks, insurance offices, doctors, dentists, a fair number of government department offices and a good selection of shops and restaurants. A reasonably safe area, but like all places where there are a lot of people coming and going, you need to be careful.
