Gosling Street

"Relatively Quiet!"

Gosling St is a pretty quiet street, apart from the ocassional idiots who speed up and down the street (what happened to the 50km/h zone?) and now that the huge block of land on the western side of the street has been sold, there isn't too much noise of a weekend from trail bikes!

There are a few barking dogs around, but they aren't too bad. You can hear trains, but they don't bother us. There's a pesky, ratty looking grey cat that hangs around and that's the worst of the pests! (Although there is a snake who makes an annual appearance in summer!) When we first moved here, there was an ibis that used to hang around (we found it in our backyard one morning, and the next day it was roaming the street!).

We get alot of native birds too, and they are simply divine. We hear lots of nature here. Whip birds, black cockatoos, kookaburras, rosellas, king parrots and white cockatoos as well. On a sunny weekend afternoon it's just gorgeous. Oh, and of course there are blue tongue lizards!

Gosling St is a 2min drive to Emu Plains railway, great for commuters. We have a shopping centre at Emu Plains, Centro Lennox, which is good. Penrith Plaza is only a few mins drive away too, and then of course up the mountain is East Blaxland shops (great fish and chip shop), then a little further, Blaxland shopping centre.

Emu Heights Public School is only a ten minute walk (the walk back is a killer though - a very steep hill!) which is great, and there are a few day care centres to choose from within close proximity. It would be nice to have a high school a little closer, but Nepean High isn't too far away.

There a two pharmacies - one at Lennox and one at Emu Plains (near the station, and next to the medical centre). There is an "all night" pharmacy up the hill at Blaxland too, which is handy.

Eating out! Well, there's Maccas, Dominos and Red Rooster down the hill, and Subway and Pizza Hut at Lennox. There is good Chinese and Thai at Emu Plains, and there's always O'Donoghues (Irish Pub). There is a fish and chips and a charcoal chicken at Emu Plains too, and a cafe called The Emu's Flute (never been there though). There's also 2 cafe's at Lennox. But the fish and chips and East Blaxland is the best.

Council services are all pretty good, the recycling garbo comes very early on a Monday morning though.

Traffic in the street can vary, I wouldn't say that it's safe for kids to play out the front though, unless they were well supervised, as cars come into the street and down the hill sometimes really fast, and leaving the street, going up the hill, just as fast. I've heard that a couple of pets have been run over and injured from speeding cars near the top of the street.
