Elwood

"Best suburb in Melbourne"

I may be biased living here my whole life but Elwood is great!

With an array of people including singles, couples, families, retirees there is something for everyone.
Including a variety of accomodation from one bedroom apartments to luxurious family homes.

The cafes atmosphere and proximity to busier St Kilda makes it perfect and having been through the schooling system and now with a child of my own it is only improving.

My only critisism is that parking in certain parts of Elwood can be difficult but with the nice weather in summer

Great for

  • Location
  • Family atmosphere
  • Tree lined streets

Not great for

  • Lack of parking

Who lives here?

  • Singles
  • Families with kids

I have to disagree that Elwood is good for families with kids. I grew up in Elwood. Kids and teenagers will feel isolated in Elwood, as there are very few kids and teenagers in the area. It's not a very family orientated area!! It's more of a trendy suburb!!
Elwood gives off a pretentious vibe. As a student living in Elwood, I really couldn't afford the high price tag of everything in the area.
Because many people living in Elwood are wealthy proffessionals, with a high population of gay men, most retailers assume that everyone is cashed up. If you go to some of the outer suburbs, you get great shopping prices and everything becomes so much less pretentious, you see so many more young families and kids. Most mums in Elwood are in their 30's and in professional occupations. So career comes first. But if you go to some of the outer suburbs there are lots of young girls and women having babies.

Can someone report this relentless Troll Amy11.

@Christines11 I avtually think you are trolling Amy11s opinions on a few reviews now. I would like to read contrasting opinions about a suburb and can make my own mind up about what I will take from it. The fact that Amy11s persistent and negative reviews, in what is overall positive commentary, does not take away from anything and you don't have to call it out in every thread. Amy11 can have their opinion, as can you.
