Oatley

"A place where people care"

Having just come back from an overseas trip I knew I was in Oatley when having just come out of the train station a car stopped (no crossing) to let me cross the road. You can alway tell who is local by the the way they drive, locals will stop and let kids on bikes cross the road instead of speeding past to their next important meeting.
Having lived overseas and in Sydney’s inner west, I’m thrilled to be living in Oatley. There is a community feel to whole suburb that I’ve not come across anywhere else in Sydney. People say hello to each other when walking. Kids safely ride their bikes to school. The community gets behind local schools through fund raising activities. There are parks everywhere. Train rides to the city are less than half an hour.
There are local bars, great coffee shops and enough restaurants to keep most people happy. The only downside I can truly think of is the Lycra brigade.... talk about first world problems.
