Goodna

"Messy Area"

I have live in goodna for 2 years now and cant wait to get out. Neighbourly spirit was proven during the floods, however, there are too many atrocious people mixed in with the good ones. Goodna noticably has a high amount of unemployed citizens, it has its own centrelink which may be advantageous to these people. Nite life is poor and eating out options are terrible. There are plenty of junk food options which seem to populate these poorer areas. The town does have a coffee club. Redbank Plaza isnt the nicest shopping centre but you can always find a park. It has a Kmart and Target which is handy. St Ives has a Woolworths and GREAT fruit shop. the fruit shop always has cheap specials and good quality fruit. I dont have kids so i cant comment on the schools, but there are plenty of options including a private school. There are a couple of GP's in goodna but the waiting times are bad, I prefer to go to Springfield. Traffic is a little meesy around the motorway while they are fixing it. Hopefully it will be better when they are finished.
Generally the place is dirty. the majority of people dont maintain there yards minus a few pockets. The general environment feels unsafe and my wife wont go walking after sunset. I have come from the Sunshine Coast and lived in Taringa, Indooroopilly, Toowoomba, Canberra. Unfortunitly I have to say goodna is the worst suburb I have seen and find it shamefull there are places like this in Australia. But It remains a option if you want to live in cheap good sized family home with transport to the city (though I wouldnt raise my kids here).

I think the coffee club is the only place decent to eat around here. We always drive to Jindalee/Indooroopilly to dine out unfortunately, so yes Goodna needs to step it up in the way of dining because there is a high amount of Junk food outlets at our disposal. You're definately right about the fruit shop as we shop there regularly and its open quite early so we miss the crowds and get in early. I can see why you have this view most definately because when i drive out of our estate i see exactly what you mean to an extent.NIghtlife sucks, dirty in some areas, roads did take forever, dining sux but not sure if i agree about the crime thing. Each to their own though, i could be way off i just haven't witnessed it.

Goodstone

To some people the cup is half full, and to others the cup is always half empty. As a resident who has lived here for over 10 years it is a great suburb. Is the suburb a little messy at the moment? Yes because it is having a ‘roadside cleanup’ the first since 2007 so there is more rubbish on the pavement at the moment that is being removed.

Funny how people say they have lived in lots of suburbs but don’t write reviews on them, does that mean they are a more transient person who is unlikely to be settled anywhere?

I have never had an issue with safety here. Restaurants, many suburbs have no restaurants at all, including quite a number of the neighbouring ones. Another couple of restaurants are the Irish Heart and also Red Rock. GP’s are great, when you want one you make an appointment and most times I get straight in.

From one wise man:
“Happiness comes from small improvements, not by getting somewhere once and for all. Being able to add on one room to your house is what makes you happy, not living in a palace.” –Warren Buffett
