Scarborough

"Overcrowded, ugly, arrogant people, unit filled suburb."

I have lived in Scarborough for 25 years. What it has become is a nightmare. It used be such a lovely, quiet, friendly suburb. Too many units being built, too many people. It's just really awful now.

Not great for

  • Too many units, too many people.

Who lives here?

  • Retirees

It mustn't be all bad as you have been there 25 years and are stilll living there.

Haha, "Nightmare", "Awful", surely you must be kidding. It is the quietest suburb I've ever lived in, and one of the few places near a capital city where there are affordable houses walking distance to the beach with amazing views over the water to mountains and islands. Pretty much anywhere in Scarborough is 1-10 mins walk to the water, along quiet roads, and there are heaps of parks along the water with very few people utilizing them. Not sure what you're talking about with regard to the units. There is always opposition to changes in suburbs from extreme long-term residents who think they own the area and are entitled to an unchanging environment. But in quiet places like this, I find any change is good. There are a handful of beautiful new unit buildings going up in Scarborough village by quality builders with good reputations. I welcome any increase in population here, as it will almost certainly result in a more diverse population and hopefully some more shops and restaurants/cafes. The current population is a little too monocultural for my liking. Diversity is always a positive thing in my experience.
