Scarborough

"Friendly and beautiful"

We moved here 6 months ago from South Sydney and we are extremely happy with our decision. The locals are very friendly, people stop to say hello and it's lovely and peaceful. Close to Newport and Scarborough Beach, we are surrounded by flat walk and cycle ways, nature and views out to Moreton Bay Island. The new train line in Kippa-ring is 6 mins drive with plenty of parking, my husband heads into the CBD 3 days per week and free wifi on the trains. Plenty of good schools of your choosing and activities for the kids. Parks galore!! Lovely.

Hi there, we are moving to Brisbane from Scotland in the new year and are looking at living in scarborough. We have 2 little girls aged 4 and 1. My husband will be working for a company called Martin Brothers who are based in Fortitude Valley. Can you tell what the traffic is like commuting over to Brisbane everyday via a car? What school would you recommend for my 4 year old who will be due to start school in the new year?

Hi there, commuting into Brisbane during peak hours 7am to 8.30amish could take you over an hour. We lived in Scarborough and we commuted by bus to the Kippa Ring Station, in total 1 hour 20 minutes each way. You would need to ensure you have a car park in Fortitude Valley. If you can travel outside 'peak hours, it will still take you around 50 minutes.

A great school is Southern Cross College and it has a great swim program incorporated into the curriculum. For travel, I would suggest your husband takes the train from Kippa Ring to the Valley to work unless of course he has a car space and can drive. If you husband can drive outside of peak hours that would help with traffic.
