Beacon Rd

"Great location, poor street."

Beacon Road represents the boundary line of Beacon Cove in Port Melbourne to the West. The first thing you notice when driving down here is the division between the nice side of the road, and the not so nice side of the road.

To the East is the Beacon Cove complex built by Mirvac, which of course houses some nice homes that have quite attractive (although many of the houses look identical). On the west side however are some very ugly apartment complexes, that are really old.

For port Melbourne, this is not a desirable street to live on, because there is so much better in the area, and its a little bit of a main road.

Strathaird Mews

"All the houses look the same, but that's Beacon Cove for ya"

Sure the houses are nice, and relatively new, and sure you are close to the beach and everything great Port Melbourne has to offer, but when I'm living somewhere I want something unique.

Strathaird Mews is identical to all the others in the area, especially The Cove and Coogee Place just around the corner.

The bottom line here is you can't really go wrong in Strathaird Mews, or any others in the Beacon Cove area, but if you want something unique, then look elsewhere in Port Melbourne, like Clark Street.

Poolman Street

"One of the best in all of Port Melbourne"

Poolman Street in Port Melbourne is in what I think is one of the best parts of the suburb. This is a beautiful street, that houses some of the most grand homes in Port Melbourne...and not the normal Bay street\Beach Street "apartmenty" type homes. These are all larger style home, mostly brick rendered and quite old. But some of them are extremely large in size, home to families and elderly people. I think there would be some good dollars to be made from renovating some of the bigger homes as well.

There is also a kids school here on on Poolman Street, which can be a bit noisy at lunchtimes, as there is a big park adjoining it that the kids play on, but this is not a major issue.

Either this street or Clark Street would be your best bet to raise a family (if you have a bit of money) and I highly recommend it.
