"Bought this year and have been loving the suburb since!"
My wife and I up sized from our unit in Mortdale. We didn't want to move far as we love the suburb of Mortdale for it's cafes/restaurants.
Peakhurst Heights is a fantastic suburb that is close to most things. Loads of green space (Gannons park/Hurstville golf course), woolworths/gym down the road. The M5 is a 3-4km away so access to the city is easy and bus service to Mortdale station for the train is available.
The majority of residents are elderly couples, followed by younger families. We bought from an older couple that were downsizing, this is a trend which will continue and see more young families move into the area, and why wouldn't you? The area is beautiful, the schools are good, the small strip of shops on Pindari Road includes a great cafe (Dessertoya) and a yoga school, among others.
We would have loved to have bought in Mortdale/Oatley, but were priced out of both. However both suburbs are easily accessed from Peakhurst Heights, including easy access to Oatley Park via Pamela Ave.
If you want to be closer to more action and more main roads, Peakhurst is probably for you instead of Peakhurst Heights. If you prefer life a bit quieter whilst still having access to almost everything you need, Peakhurst Heights is great.
The only real downside is that a train station is not walking distance. But you will pay 200k or more for this in suburbs like Mortdale/Oatley and bus service gets you to Mortdale in 6-8 minutes in any case.
