I was skeptical when moving here from the Inner west 10 years ago. I lived in the Panania hotel side of station. Since then I've been seeing so many people moving to the areas (station is full of professionals waiting for the trains in the morning in compared with when I first moved here). The areas has welcomed so many new young families due to many of its good school options, both primary and high school: St Christopher, St Luke, De La Salle Revesby, Mt St Joseph. If you look up, all these schools got pretty good rankings (a grandchild of my neighbor got HSC 97). I work in the city so the train trip took only 30 minutes which is perfect for me. There are many parks and reserves near my place and I love to take a stroll in the afternoon in the parks nearby, where many people running or walking their dogs, taking tennis lessons or playing tennis. We initially chose to buy this place because I am a light sleeper, I wake up at the very slightest noise, and luckily I made the right choice buying a place with a park right at my front door (but with walking distance to train station). The only noise I could hear in the evening or at night is maybe my brother's footstep when running upstairs or downstairs, it is so quiet. Being a semi-detached house, I hear nothing from my neighbor semi-detached either. We park our cars (Lexus) outside and never had a single issue for 10 years now. Also I paid off my mortgage much more quickly than I thought rather than buying somewhere else more expensive! Why not taking advantage of the fast train trips to city (25 mins) while you can. Not sure some of the reviews are so terrible, it's like they're describing some other totally different suburb.
