Yangebup

"Depends on the area - and depends on the interactions you have - like anywhere!"

It's all about which PART of Yangebup you're in!
If you're nearer the hill-area ('new Yangebup' - the rather beautiful area including the streets of Spearwood Avenue or in the dip around Cockburn CRC, with some 2000-year-era houses pushing the million plus mark for their small-lawn mansion styles)? Then yes, the lack of wind-shield means that you'll likely get nice views of the seaside and a great sunrise if you look to the east... but the south-east wind will blow lime dust from the nearby cement works. At least you have Beeliar acting as the main landfall for that dust (sorry Beeliar!). It's been a big issue and a community concern for a while now.
'Older Yangebup' is on the west side of Spearwood Avenue is protected from that windfall, but that area is nearer to the lakes and midges do arise despite the reported cleaning that they do. It's quiet. *Very* quiet. The occasional dirt motorbike that zips across the expansive parks with little concern for their safety are reported fast and often wipe themselves out faster. The population is aging, the neighbourhood watch is fairly well organised and there's a nice effort from the local politicians to work on improving the community spirit, even if there's little in the budget to make the shops better (in saying that, the Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem and the shops are all working hard to make themselves viable in the face of amazing new developments, including proposed cinemas and the upgraded massive gym only a five min trip east to Cockburn central).
In short, there's issues. But this is a diamond in the rough.
