Warialda

"Mixed bag"

Like any location there are positives and negatives to Warialda. For a small town it is pretty well serviced with gps (bulk billing), a multi-purpose medical centre, retirement home, nice 9 hole golf course, a bowling club, a couple of pubs, solicitor, accountant, IGA, post office, take aways, mechanics, petrol station, smaller specialty shops, credit union (limited hours though), schools, churches, police station, fire brigade, and swimming pool. Excellent for a town of just over 1000. The real estate is very affordable and Warialda is quite central to other larger towns, however it’s at least a 90 minute round trip to get to those towns and therefore it’s relatively isolated. There are quite a few friendly locals but other locals aren’t the welcoming kind (unless you are another well-established local) to the point of discriminating against those who weren’t born and raised in the area. Conservative farming area. It can be very difficult to get tradies too. Very dry climate, drought-stricken. Limited employment opportunities unless willing to travel or have specialist skills the town needs. Just about non existent public transport.
