North Sydney

"Sydney's best apartment suburb (for the privileged few)"

I have not doubt in saying that for the those who are looking for apartment living (and the privileged few that can afford it), North Sydney is the BEST suburb in Sydney (singles, couples, down-sizers, retirees, students, everyone!). North Sydney train station is incredibly well serviced (trains every 3min at peak hour and approximately every 5min for all other hours from 5am till midnight), and also has a new Metro station opening that will connect directly with Barangaroo and Chatswood at similar frequencies). The suburb is the most convenient suburb in Sydney with respect to all major employment hubs (i.e City, Chatswood, St Leonard, Macquarie Park, Mascot and North Sydney itself) and if you do work in Olympic Park or Parramatta, you will enjoy the express train to yourself every day as you travel against the traffic. The suburb has all major supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA), multiple chemists, doctors and dentists, all top 10 bank branches, as well as dozens of food courts and fast food outlets. The CBD shuts down at 7pm every night and you won't hear a thing as you sleep. The streets are amazingly clean and leafy, EVERYTHING is new or refurbished, the streets are brilliantly lit and there is virtually no crime, antisocial behaviour or dark areas. Council plans to pedestrianise the main Miller Street which will be amazing. Residents and workers in the suburb are mostly from professional backgrounds, so the streets feel pleasant and behaved. What makes North Sydney amazing is the great suburbs around it (Lavender Bay, Milsons Point, McMahons Point and Kirribilla for all of Sydney's iconic attractions, nature and parks galore, Crows Nest and Chatswood for all your food/Asian grocery/dining and department stores, and St Leonards for the Royal North Shore Hospital). What's great is North Sydney doesn't have the tourists or crowds these other suburbs attract, but North Sydney has access to all the benefits with a short walk or 5 minute train. North Sydney is home to many of Sydney's top performing and prestigious schools with many frequently making the top 10. The apartment housing stock in North Sydney comprises of new luxury builds by the top tier developers, or high quality solid older builds which are always maintained well by their strata committees and tightly held. Apartment stock is limited however, with the majority of North Sydney zoned commercial thus restricting new stock, as well as restrictions on new residential parking by the council. It is likely that this very limited supply will make the suburb an enclave only for a very privileged few over the next decade. I have been renting in North Sydney for approximately 1 year and aiming to purchase in the next year to avoid missing out on this superb area.
