Yarraville

"Move here if you love breathing in pollution and noisy trucks"

I've lived in Yarraville for 2 years. I originally lived in a quiet street and loved walking to the village, through the lovely parks and visiting all The Village has to offer. However, after moving onto Francis Street I have definitely begun to hate living here and am going to be moving soon. We can't open our windows as the pollution from the trucks is almost overwhelming. Although there is a 'truck curfew' it doesn't apply to any trucks using it as a thoroughfare (as long as their destination is past Francis St) or any trucks coming and going from the Mobil refinery which is only a few metres from my home. The refinery smells so bad sometimes that it makes us feel honestly depressed that we can't enjoy the neighbourhood without smelling petrol from our loungeroom.
There are definite pros to living here such as being close to the city, the community vibe, the cafes, bars, restaurants and op shops however the cons do outweighs the pros for me at this point. Anyone not living on Francis Street or Somerville Road will probably not share my view and that's okay. I appreciate everyone's opinions and like I've said, Yarraville is an awesome suburb. It is much nicer than Brunswick or Coburg.
I've loved living here but I would suggest only moving here if you are not on the main roads and you don't mind the traffic noise during peak hour, trucks, pollution or refineries.
