Lamb Island

"Peaceful and natural yet close to everything"

Lamb Island is small and peaceful with about 400 residents. Safe enough to get around by bicycle and small enough to get from one end to the other. There is abundant bird life and it is surrounded by the waters of Moreton Bay, so great for kayaking, fishing, and sailing. Houses and land are affordable, and there are a variety of people who live here, retirees, organic gardeners, artists, nature lovers, and those who have online businesses and can work from home. Australia Post delivers parcels and letters daily and there is no delay. There is a regular barge for transporting cars and building materials etc. It’s a small community so you get to know the people who live on the island. The ferry services to Redland Bay are regular and are included in the Qld TransLink Go card system giving you cheaper fares. The ferry to Redland Bay is 20 mins and from there you can be in Brisbane City or the Gold Coast in 40 mins.
There is a small kiosk selling food essentials and takeaways and a Supa IGA on the neighbouring Russell Island which has a good selection and prices comparable to the mainland. The ferry between Lamb and Russell, Macleay and Karragarra Islands is free. Ideally suited to active people who want to escape the hustle and bustle.
