Bridgewater

"Good and the bad!"

I've lived in the Huon Valley all of my life and moved to Bridgewater in 2015 as my husband and I found a house 3x the size of ours for sale for $180,000 less then half the price of what we payed for our place in Huonville! I love living in Bridgewater & even though it has been known as a 'rough' place, I would much rather live and raise my children here than Huonville. It has every service you need and is only 20 minute drive tops to Hobart, the public transport is absolutely fantastic! The sense of community spirit is absolutely fantastic in Bridgewater and there are plenty of hard working people who love the place they live out here! The local public school (East Derwent Primary) is absolutely beautiful and after moving my son from a private school in the Huon Valley I am super impressed with East Derwent. There is Gymnastics, Dancing, Indoor Soccer & plenty of other great things for your children to partake out here (the local PCYC is great!) & I will happily live here for as long as I can! As for the rougher people out here, yes there are some but no one has ever shown us any violence or hostility out here & I feel safe enough to leave my car unlocked & my kids play with other children on the front lawn all afternoon. It may of been worse, but since 2015 we have had no issues & I'm very proud to live in Bridgewater. I am a university graduate, with my bachelors in Criminology and my Husband is a owner of a slaughter house (we are not your average bogans)

Hi Laura are you still living in Bridgewater? Im considering buying an investment property there as prices are so good and wonder if it is still a good place? Have you seen changes in the last few years?

As the price is going up, I see more and more people moving in. And the construction under way is so quickly nearby. So I am sure there will be some changes. Rent is also increasing.

Hey Isabel I own an investment in Bridgewater, has gone up dramatically over the last few years so you may have missed the brunt of the growth however I'd say there is still more to come. If I was you however I would look more into either Clarendon vale if you want cheap or as close to Glenorchy as you can afford.
