Bracken Ridge

"Lofty Views"

We have lived in Bracken Ridge since 2006. We moved to a leafy street on the east side of the hill and have lovely views over the bay from our front verandah. We have found the neighbourhood to be friendly and quiet. An easy stroll to a great Catholic primary school has been one of the biggest positives for us. Easy access to 2 supermarkets is also a big plus.
Local sporting facilities, close proximity to the Sandgate waterfront, the local library and a quick drive down the motorway to the airport have all made living in Bracken Ridge very convenient for our growing family.
I'm glad that we researched our neighbourhood and decided to only purchase on the south side of Barrett Street (that encompasses the Bracken Ridge Hill and down towards Enbrook Estate).

Great for

  • Walking distance to local schools
  • Access to all important facilities
  • Convenience to the north and south coast/ airport
  • Availability to public transport, beach, and village
  • Wide leafy flat streets
  • Good cost living

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees

"Southside of Barrett Street, ... and down towards Enbrook Estate" is a large area and it would comprise half of Bracken Ridge. I agree that some hill views are just nice, especially since they get the nice breezes. Yet, it's just pure luck to be ending up in a quiet street, in our experience and if the street is quiet, then chances are some street/s around you are not, at all.

What Uey says, exactly our experience.

Having lived in 2 houses in Bracken Ridge and 7 other suburbs in Australia over the last 20 years I can say that this is true for every suburb. I have lived in expensive areas in both Brisbane and Sydney with very noisy and uncaring neighbours. I think it is more a modern social issue with selfish people and the transient nature of renters makes this more likely. We haven't had any significant issues in Bracken Ridge first as renters and now in a second house as "owners".
