Ashby

"A hidden gem in the Yamba hinterland"

Ashby (and Ashby Heights on the ridge above the village) is a safe and picturesque area that has views over the Broadwater and the Clarence River. It’s only 15 minutes’ drive to the historic town of Maclean, and 20 minutes to Yamba Coles. It’s close to some of the most beautiful beaches in this area of the coast, including Iluka and Angourie, and all of Yamba’s terrific swimming spots such as the dog friendly Pippi Beach, where we often see dolphins. Ashby has a community hall and reserve that brings the locals together for a monthly market and other activities. We also have an active Facebook page, the 'Ashby Herald'. A few minutes drive away is Harwood that has a terrific pub that serves good food, the Harwood Farm Store, and a post-office. Also minutes away is the quaint village of Chatsworth with good access to the river for fishing and kayaking, a general store that also serves coffee and meals, and the local school. With the upgrade to the Pacific Highway recently completed, Ballina, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour are within about an hour's drive. Aside from the school bus, public transport is generally lacking, although Maclean does have a taxi service. All in all, Ashby is a wonderful place to call home.
