Herberton

"Horrible council minimal ameneties"

I bought a block of land at herberton in the hope to build a house however the tableland regional council has told me that I have to pay for an accessible road to the property (to their specification plus obtain insurance) on council land. I pay the same council rates as everyone else yet I have no accessible road, no chance of postal services or garbage waste collection. I might as well burnt my.money when I bought the piece of land (1000 square metres). Annually I pay 3k in council rates for a land that will cost me more than it is worth. Herberton is a bad investment. Just visit this place and leave the ghost town to the corrupt council that run it. Like I said it has very basic amenities and facilities. I would not recommend this place for anyone as you will not have the local government to improve the area at least for another 30 years as cited by them. They expect residents to enhance the area for their benefit. One example is yungaburra. So much for peace in a country town that has been abandoned by the local council for over a century.
