Oakfield Court

"Shocker"

I lived here for 2 years, didnt move because we couldnt afford it. There was only one really nice couple in the street, they are still there, but it was completely horrifying towards the end, drug dealers, psycho next door neighbour who should have their kids taken of them, plus the mistreatment of animals in this area is appauling! If you move to this street, believe me your an idiot. If you think you can get away with moving there and relying on the local authorities; Just another mistake, we called them countless times in two years, the quickest they came was about 2 and a half hours!

Melton South

"Be Wary"

If your thinking of moving here for cost effectiveness; please dont! Especially not with a family this is no place for kids to grow up. Look at Kurunjang or Melton West, so much better there. There are a lot of scum of the earth types that live here and don't give a rats if you need sleep to go to work the next day, they will just keep drinking their wine and screaming at the top of their lungs for everyone to hear, you'll have a brief gap, and think of sleep, but its only to refill the glass and start up again. Cops are well known to this area, at least on a weekly visitation basis. If like the majority of this area, there is no garage, make sure you have a petrol locking cap, or they will just rip of the cover off to steal your petrol. If for some unforeseen reason you have to move here, at least keep away from Oakfield Court, just off Fraser Street. Only a couple of good neighbours left, the rest were driven away to regain their sanity. It may look ok but it's the druggies and low down scum, that give this area a real bad name and there are plenty of those types around here. If you are renting be prepared for nothing to be done, most of the owners won't lft a finger to get anything repaired, unless they are legally obliged to. if you do only one thing, or everything right in your life, stay away from this area, it's the real bronx!!!

Not great for

  • Limited shopping, regularly drive to Ballarat or Deer Park to get things that are unavailable here
  • Plenty of drug and alcohol abusers
  • Buses drive right past you at the stop

I agree with the staying away, but please don't make up crime statistics, they just aren't true.

I find this place to be real gem that you could find in this market. The development that is to happen would create a great living place.Check the developemnt that is happening allready in Woodgrove and the house projects that are coming up. Its time to move in before all , no place is bad or good as you think.Overtime demography change. The walking and Bicycle tracks give a meaning to life. And of cource the nearby station

It is a Good place to consider.

See my comments above in 2016-2017 and see where the house prices now - almost doubled. And the growth only began .... I recon it will skyrocket in the coming years

Ballarat Central

"Ballarat - A great place"

Plenty to see and do. Great for shopping, eating out, pubs, entertaining the kids. Parks are clean. Don't live on a major road, when the pubs shut, they walk home along these routes, Creswick Road is one of the worst, they rip out your fence, (coppers take forever to get there), smash the window of your car, leave your car ashtray open, so they can look in and see there's nothing in it, don't expect to get much sleep on a Friday and Saturday night. Shopping is great, especially down near Eastwood Street with Coles and Woolies opposite each other. Buses run approx every 20 mins, pretty good service, hospital and medical are plenty.

"A Small Town - A Sleepy Hollow"

I lived there for 2 years. Very peaceful and quiet, never locked my car up, went to sleep at night with a security door shut, with the front door open. Blocks are quite spacious and most houses set into the middle of the block. Police station only shuts during the lunch break and after about 6pm. You have a number to ring and the coppers will get back to you. Neighbours will call police if they are concerned about you. Only 2 pubs, 1 petrol station, hairdresser, an IGA shop to get your top ups. I did most of my shopping in Horsham, and used IGA for the run out of things. Post Office, Newsagents, and the Fish and Chip Shop still does Mars bars in batter. Harvey does a great job with the fish n chips. Most of the shop owners know your name. I watched the river dry up and fill back up again. Most places shut at 5pm. Dimboola Memorial College is a great school. Great walk along and around the river.

Another idiot that can not see the trees for the forest..

Support you local business, go up the main street to buy you bread meat and newspaper, not the IGA or Horesham and you might have a town in 5 years.....

EmmaC3

The town is still here and going strong! Still have the bakery men's land 2 big banks pharmacy 2 fish shops one Asian food van and even a cafe plus more stores because contrary to your dumb belief people who do a majority of their big shop in horsham still spend money and support in their own town!
