Katanning

"Katanning the Super town!"

In the middle of everywhere: 2 1/2 hours to Armadale and perth metro, 2 hours to the west coast, 2 hours to the south coast. It also looks like a gold mine will be opening up soon: Nothing definate yet but it is looking very good. More to the point the lower end of the residential real eastate has been bought up, by the locals. There are some bargains around but there might be a reason why they are a bargain. Nevertheless, there is a good rate of return on investment real estate and some reasonably priced owner occupied housing. Good sports facilities, good community spirit, can get most of what you would need locally, (if they don't have it on display they can get it for you), and remember when you compare prices take the freight component into consideration, as the Katanning businesses generally deliver to your door for the quoted price. 3 primary schools, 1 senior high school, tafe campus, kids can walk to school and be safe. Good hospital, pharmacy and medical services. Always seems to be jobs advertised so there is work available. Unusually for a country town has a very diverse population, with local indigenous (7%), Malay/Christmas/Cocos Islander, (bout 12%), fair proportion of other cultures represented as well, such as afghani, pacific Islander, kiwis, iranian, congolese, south african and chinese to name a few making up another 10% or so. There seems to be no tension between all the cultures and everyone seems to get on. It's an interestingly good place to live. Earmarked by the State government as one of the "Super Towns" which they want to expand and grow.
