Whilst people here comment that Lake Haven, NSW is a nice place to live, unfortunately we experienced something different. We had moved here from beautiful Melbourne in thinking that it would be a nice place to raise young kids, unfortunately whilst it's a small suburb, there is poverty around, and also you see teens, and young adults doing drugs close to the main mall in the day time. Not too mentioned the loud noise at night and drag-races that take place. And there is a big area full of government housing commission, which sadly is poorly maintained. To put it simply I did not feel comfortable going for walks with my kids around that neighbourhood. In fact many of the locals said, "how the area has changed and gone "down hill" since they remember back in the 70-80's, which apparently was a lot nicer. If you are coming from a nice area, or a nice city, I would not recommend moving here, plus there isn't much to do. We lived closer to the lake and there is no walking trail by the lake, nor side walks in many parts, then you have no playgrounds, you have to go to Toukley for playgrounds. Thankfully, we were able to move. Hopefully, council in Laka Haven will work on this for their citizens. It is sad how a once a upon a time nice place has changed so much and not for the better. Good luck! if you move to Lake Haven, NSW., and if you do, I recommend a visit before making this place a more permanent home.
