Mudgee

"Yawn"

A boring town full of people who like to act wealthy but they really aren't. In other word, two bob snobs. There is no highway near the town, no railway and no real bus lines. So you are basically stuck in Mudgee because, along with the transport, its miles from anything worth spending time at. The houses are overpriced and so is the rent. No real local jobs, apart from a coal mine which will shut down one day and the town will halve overnight. Pubs are ok but meals a rip off (a few are owned by the same bloke). It's hot, it's dry and it's not a scenic place. I lived in Mudgee for 12 years. It was only when I moved that I realised how bad it is. I now live in a town with a smaller population. It has a hourly bus service, train runs three times a day to a major, capital city. A few hours on the freeway to the coast and the best mountains in the country. Blows Mudgee out of the water. People who have lived in Mudgee their whole life love it. Those who move there, within a short time, realise it is terrible.

Very Hot, very dry, I enjoyed Mudgee when it was green but I knew it would not last long and brown up again. No water had to order water many times very costly, then winter came and the temp would drop below zero. Found myself wanting to get away every few month to the coast or just somewhere where there were things to do. People enjoyed visiting for a country break, felt isolated when they left.
