Mendooran is a great place for a young family to raise kids. Its small enough that families know each other and will look out for each others little ones. It has a great community spirit, if you want to get to know people, just get involved in any of the numerous local working bees. There is a bowling club, RSL, Pub and a take away. There is a newsagent who has minor grocery lines and a rural hardware store that also has a larger supermarket. There are lots of Horsey people around, and there a many small sporting clubs, including a gun club with good facilities.
