Dumaurier Street

"Quiet and neighbourly"

Great street to live, very much an older an area with neighbours who have lived in the area since the houses were first built. It has all the advantages of being close to the hub of Chermside without being in the thick of it. Easy walking distance to the local supermarket, parks and sporting facilities and the shopping centre.
Crossing Gympie Road in the morning to get the bus can be a bit of a challenge as their are no traffic lights in that area, but there are often large breaks in the traffic which allows you to cross very safely.

Great for

  • Quiet Street
  • Good neighbours

Not great for

  • Lack of footpaths

"Nice and Neighbourly"

The area around the Chermside Markets, just north of the shopping centre has a good neighbourhood vibe, You will often see people out and about and everyone always says hello. It is only a short walk to the shopping centre and the bus service is regular from the bus station, though a little more unreliable as you go further north. Gympie Road does get extremely busy at peak hour, but it thins out again by 8:30am.

There is a cricket club that plays at Marchant Park, and you can often hear the sounds of the game during the weekends. Marchant Park is also great for exercise and offers really good facilities. If you are a hockey player, there is a very good club in the area.

Restaurants can be hit and miss around the area, but the Kedron Wavell RSL is excellent, with great values meals and drinks. There are a number of new restaurants opening up around the shopping centre and there is a brilliant Thai restaurant behind the shopping centre and across the road from the RSL.

We only moved here 18 months ago and it is not somewhere that we had really researched, but we are very happy that we moved into this area.

Great for

  • Great bus links
  • Close to everything
  • Great parks with free fitness equipment. Top aquatic centre
  • Best RSL in brisbane
  • Council Libraray

Not great for

  • Stop / start traffic due to the number of poorly timed traffic lights
  • Can't walk to railway station
