Camberwell

"Don't believe the rankings! Living in Camberwell is brilliant"

I have been living in Camberwell since 2012 and I am glad we chose Camberwell over Kew, Hawthorn East, Balwyn. Public transport is excellent. Which other suburb has so many train stations within walking distance to most houses? In 10 years time with the explosion in population, you will NOT be able to drive around comfortably. So living in Kew just because it is 7-8 kms from the CBD holds no water. It used to take me 1 hour in 2010, in 10 years time make that 2 hours.

While buying a house can be an expensive prospect, renting is still very affordable. You have so many parks and walking/cycling trails (e.g. Anniversary trail along Fordham Avenue) that you won't mission having a large backyard. Also, the recent changes to zoning laws and with more townhouses being built, we should hopefully see house prices becoming a bit more affordable to those looking to upgrade/move up the ladder.

To sum up, Camberwell is a safe suburb, lots of shopping and places to eat, excellent transport options, choice of good primary and secondary schools, parks and reserves (Frog Hollow, Fordham gardens, Highfield, Lynden, Willison, Wattlepark and more).
