Malvern East

"Classy and Friendly"

Whilst the rest of Melbourne are caught up with Canterbury, Surry Hills, Camberwell, Toorak, Armadale, Malvern and South Yarra properties, Malvern East is a sleeping giant of a wonderful suburb. Sorry, Kew is not in the list up there but I really dislike Kew because I always feel an aura of bleakness that shrouds over Kew. I know the older generations have a love affair with Kew but accessibility to that part of town through dodgy North Richmond, Richmond or Fitzroy is also another buzz kill.
Back to Malvern East, what can I say. I am second generation living in the suburb and my parents used to live along Malvern Road / Waverly Road side of town. I enjoy the different fractions within Malvern East but most importantly, each fraction has its attraction. The common theme are parks everywhere and urban forests and reserves. Phoenix Park is great for kids (all parks are) and with the ever expanding Chadstone, my goodness, property prices just keep climbing.
Even if I had more money, I will just buy a bigger house or a nicer house in Malvern East. I cannot stand the inconvenience of shopping and the lack of cafes that are trendy and stylish and hipster-ish in the Eastern side of town. Plus seriously, that side of town is so bleak and gloomy. It's like everyone wears a straight jacket there and do the Riverdance for a living.
