Hackham West

"Bit of a rough area"

I grew up here. It is a okay area. Not the best by far but affordable. It has a mix of owners, renters and housing trust. I attended the primary school and I loved it there. So many lovely teachers when i attended. If you are thinking about living here i would reccomened having a dog or good security system. Made quite a lot of long life friends here. There are lots of kids here.

In being honest i should warn people that this area is known for drugs and crime how ever it does depend on the parts of hackham you live in and who you socialize with. I personally came out fine and dont touch any drugs and have known many people to do the same.

Close to Colonnades Shopping Centre and the beach. Short drive to Marion shopping centre, Flinders Medical and Flinders Uni. Close to the swimming centre and has a lot of public transport.

There is definately a mix of people who live here. This is lower income to middle class. I also would reccomend not going out alone at night and trying to have cars behind gates. There are quite a few dodgy people there.

Great for

Not great for

"Beautiful."

Friendly atmosphere. Highly reccomend Blackwood gym. Short drive to Marion Shopping Centre. Public transport is okay seemed to be getting better as i moved away from the area. A lot of beautiful pubs for dinner. The Duck is a beautiful pub with an open fire in the winter. Short bus trip or drive to Flinder Uni and the hospital.

"Love this area"

Very close to the beach and public transport. Friendly area and close to major shopping centres, hospital, schools and the swimming centre. Nice little parks. Depending on which street you live on you may get the occasional sirens or loud cars but for the most part very peaceful. I personally plan on moving back to this area with my daughter in the next few months. Beautiful area if you like to be close to everything.
