Berwick

"Nice suburb but the traffic is awful"

We moved from Glen Waverley to Berwick 2 years ago. We were warned about the traffic but it's worse than anything we expected.
Berwick town itself is nice, lots of restaurants and places to eat. Parks in the area are lovely. The closest shopping centre is Fountain Gate which always seems to be crowded and hard to find a park. It also doesn't have shops like David Jones or Country Road, so you might have to travel elsewhere for these.
But the traffic around Berwick is shocking. If there's an accident it can be very hard to move around due to overcrowding or gridlock on poorly planned roads. Hopsitals are in the worst area to access so don't have an accident ! And school traffic times are out of control, the whole place goes into gridlock. Businesses in the area must suffer from people being unable to access them until after hours or weekends.
Contacting council is useless too as they're aware of problems but have no plans to fix them, and in fact are approving new estates where additional traffic will make traffic even worse - which makes no sense at all.
Although I've liked living in Berwick, we're now looking to move out purely due to traffic issues. What a shame.
