"Laverton - The undiscovered gem"

I have lived in Laverton for 45yrs and yes it had a rep in the old days but so did all of the West. The beauty of Laverton is its cultural diversity and the number of families that live in the area.People in Laverton live and let live.It is very quiet suburb and people aren't on top of each other like other suburbs. Other that Wackett st and around Laverton Station (week days only), traffic is minimal.Recently we have had some great restaurants open around the area that are getting great reviews. Also the residents of Laverton are community minded. We have great committees that are dedicated to the continuing improvement of our little gem. In Laverton we have the recently rebuilt Laverton College which has classes from grade prep to Year 12. This school is now fitted with state of the art facilities. There are also one or two more stages to the renovations to this college. We have a Catholic primary school which is St Martins, which I can tell you from experience, is a wonderful school. The teachers are dedicated and the school's principal is a very innovative man who has improved the school during his reign (of terror). They have had very high results in the naplan testing. We are also very fortunate to have recently opened up our third school which is the Western Autistic School which again has state of the art facilities for their students. The school community, though small, is a lovely thing to be a part of in Laverton There are a lot of old houses in Laverton however many of these are now being pulled down for the big blocks or being renovated by investors. For all you shoppers out there you have Werribee Plaza (15mins away) Altona Gate (15mins away) Highpoint (20 mins away)and very shortly we will have the big Westfield Shopping Centre at Williams Landing in Laverton. Transport is great. We have buses to Footscray, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Altona, Altona Meadows and Sunshine. We also are have Laverton Train Station (zone 1) which in manned 24hrs a day and during peak times trains run every 15minutes to the city. I can also tell you we do not have youths running around our streets at night however I would say there is not a lot of entertainment for children in Laverton and you do need to go elsewhere though I am hoping with the upgrading of our community centre now taking place this will be looked at. For sport fans we have a soccer tennis, softball, basketball , cricket and football clubs. If you are looking for a suburb based on the suburbs of the good old days take a look at Laverton. We are in a period of renewal just like Altona started about 20years ago and it is a place for visionaries and yes I do love Laverton
