Balaclava Road

"Noisy trams but in generally a convenient peaceful area"

Being so close and accessible to Carlisle street in Balaclava is the major bonus of this street. The tram runs straight down to it. Carlisle street is one of my favorite streets in melbourne, with plenty of cafes and shops to such you in for the day. There's a couple of madhatters around to keep you entertained too.

Because it can pick up some speed, i found the tram to be noisy at first but soon got used to it. Besides that, the area is very peaceful. There's also a really good oesteopath at the orrong junction - Dr Sexton.

Field Street

"Nice relaxed atmosphere"

I really like this street and it's location. no matter where you are on the street you are close to one of the two stations that run alongside it. My apartment was to the front of the street so i didn't experience much disturbance from the trainline.

Bentleigh is great for shopping, but nightlife is too quite for me - that's it's biggest downfall. Nice area for families though.

Church St

"So convient to everywhere"

I love living on Church St(over 1 year)- everything you want is within easy reach. Generally, there's alot of character that comes with it. I'll admit, my apartment is to the back of a block and is therefore very quite and peaceful when i want it to unwind. Those living directly on the street may be kept awake with the old rickety trams. Want to go somewhere fast - these trams will not seems like as much fun as they are to the me generally.
There's loads of cafes, bars, restaurants shopping within easy reach but it's also extremely easy to pop into the city. Stay on the trams brings you up to South yarra and St Kilda - easy(but generally slow)! You've also got a well stocked library near swan for book worms. Gyms galore for those sport inclined. Yarra leisure over great membership deals to the gym, swimming pool and Burnley golf club...
Security wise, i've never had any trouble where i am, and have never felt threatened(but i tend not to worry too much).

All in all, if you have little responsibility, and want to make the most of your freetime, Richmond is a pretty good place to be.
