Mirrabooka

"Affordable housing"

We have moved from the coast to Mirrabooka, 2 years ago. We thought we would really dislike the place, however, have come to find we have been fortunate to have a great bunch of neighbours who are always watching your house, bringing bins in for you, sharing food (every week without fail). The children all play in the street, and i often feel i live in a village - it's a lovely community feel. The children are from six different cultural backgrounds. When is the last time you saw and heard children playing freely in the street? Sure, the lawns and gardens are not that well maintained but it is truly not an accurate reflection on the type of people who reside in the area. We have had nothing but kind, generous people, whom we have had the pleasure of meeting - that is in our street and at the local shops. Our street is extremely multicultural, but isn't that what Australia is made of, many people from many different countries. With it brings the variety of foods, customs, languages and lifestyle. All of which you will be exposed to in this suburb. The residents of Mirrabooka are multicultural. In addition, if you love fruit trees, everywhere you look, you can be guaranteed someone is growing some. I have also loved having the native bird and wild life visit. And we are lucky enough to have views out to the koondoola regional park. Beach is 20-25 mins down beach road or Reid highway, the local mirrabooka shopping centre has a great variety of shops and the local Honeywell shops has awesome cheap food/shops. We are professionals and drive to Perth cbd for work, which takes about 25-30mins. Dont get me wrong, you get the occasional unsavouries, but that goes for any suburb. Often in summer, you see people sitting at the front of their houses with friends watching the world go by. To sum it up, I would say, not the most aesthetically pleasing suburb, street parking is difficult, however, it is affordable housing, serviced by many main arteries to Perth CBD and the coast. Warwick train station is 10 mins down beach road, Mirrabooka senior high school will soon be changing it's school name to Dianella Secondary College. All in all, not too bad as a starter home in my opinion. But dont take my word for it... chat to the locals and immerse yourself to really get a feel, and prior to forming an accurate opinion of Mirrabooka.
