Tinning Street

"Child care on the street, 3 trams and a train to choose from, 5kms from city - wide and leafy!"

Well, we hit the jackpot when we found this street. It is wide, a dead end at Sydney Rd so it doesn't get through traffic, Brunswick North Primary School is uniformed and excellent, with Dance School and Montessori in the grounds (400 m away).
The best bit is the number 1 tram (Moreland Rd); 19 tram (Sydney Rd); 55 tram (Melville Rd) and Anstey Station all within a short walk away.
The wide street has ample street parking and street is predominantly filled with Victorians - most of which are renovated. Tree lined and friendly, with 400m2 blocks.
As per usual in the inner city, the blocks of flats spoil a few bits, but they are all small. We hope the land values will increase to the point where a developer will buy the lot and bowl them over!
Great little street especially between La Rose and Patterson St.
Get something here if you can!

Brunswick

"Groovy, Accepting, convenient and a place to be yourself"

For all those who want leafy green pockets filled with white people, tennis lessons for home based wives and massive blocks of land, this is not the place for you. In fact is is likely to feel like you have been deposited on a different planet.
For those who enjoy the eclectic, interesting and diverse, in a stones throw from the city with the potential to make a massive amount of money on property investment, you are welcome in Brunswick!
We love it that we can get on our bikes and buy absolutely anything, eat from any culture and live in a thriving metropolis where every part of the world meet. The old Victorian charm means there's always a bargain, and if you do it well, a whole lot of money to be made out of renovation and investment.
The average detached house block of 400m2 may seem small for those with children, but not really considering the sheer amount to do in the immediate surroundings. 3 years and counting and we're still finding things to do.

Great for

  • Community feel
  • Ability to be yourself - wear and be anything!
  • Public transport

Not great for

  • Traffic congestion
  • Moreland council's work ethic
  • Inner city undesirables in pockets
