McClelland Street
Editors Choice

"Great location."

This is the best spot. People are jealous of where we live. Extremely close to Fruit & Veg, Butcher, Fish, Bakery, Chemist, Newsagent, Chicken shop, hairdresser, scouts, Catholic and Anglican churches, schools, vet, Bottleshop, restauarants, doctor and cafes. High Street shops have it all. New Japanese and Italian restaurants rumoured to be opening very soon. The local cafe has just been awarded best barista and coffee in Sydney! Walk a little further up to the Willoughby hotel for a drink or meal. Close to Willoughby park with enclosed playground, preschool, and Willoughby Park Centre which offers interest (arts & crafts) and fitness (martial arts, ballet, gymnastics, funky dance) classes for all ages. The kids can walk to school or catch the bus. There are 2 bus stops on the street for the public and private schools and to the city. The express bus into the city/Bondi is a short walk to Penhurst Street. Walk to Chatswood. There are also great bushwalks and bike tracks. 3 sets of traffic lights to get into the city! Parking outside your house can sometimes be tricky but only when there is a funeral on at St Thomas. I expect there will be more traffic into the area when the new restaurants open. Thankfully these establishments will not be open all hours. It's a friendly street and so are the people that live in the area. It used to be a working class area many years ago, but is mainly professionals. We have lived here for 9 years. We think about moving but to move anywhere else would mean I'd have to drive to get a loaf of bread or a bottle of milk or wine.

Great for

  • Proximity to everything, its very handy to 'duck' up to the shops for to get dinner whether you want to cook, take way or dine in.
  • Friendly neighbours
  • Safe

Not great for

  • Houses are gorgeous Californian Bungalows but they are notorious for being a little damp
  • Depending which end you are you get the buses
  • Sometimes it would be nice to look out the back door and not see all the houses, but what do you expect when you live so close to the city.

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Students
  • Trendy & Stylish
