Hendra

"A city suburb with country character where beautiful old Queenslanders sit alongside large new houses with character (you have to like horses"

Hendra is a quaint suburb where horses can be heard walking up and down the streets, (this is particularly true if you live in the Stable district side).
The architecture and general feel of the area is similar to its surrounding suburbs of Clayfield, Hamilton and Ascot, but with more houses becoming available to restore or demolish (only late 20th Century houses as most of Hendra is Demolition Controlled) as the old residents pass-away or move on due to the increased land value, this is also true with many of the large stables closing up and selling their vast lots of land.
Queenslanders dominate the area, particularly the interwar 'Ashgrovian' three Gable style, with a few earlier workers cottages also found, most new house are large luxury homes, with people choosing to build houses that compliment the older Timber homes rather than building concrete McMansions.
Great area for families with a general transition from blue collar racing industry workers to white collar taking place quite rapidly as is expected for a location only 7km from the city and walking distance to Racecourse Road. The only downside is lack of public transport with only one bus travelling through the suburb and another skimming the side of it alongside Clayfield.
